JURORS in the Benjamin Mendy rape trial have been told not to take a “moralistic” approach when considering verdicts.
Judge Steven Everett said some were possibly not impressed by the Man City star’s behaviour towards women.
One complainant has said Mendy told her having sex with him was a privilege, and boasted of bedding 10,000 women.
Judge Everett told the jury that Mendy was not on trial for being disrespectful to the women he had sex with, nor for lockdown breaches.
He added: “You must judge this case on the evidence . . . and not allow any moralistic view to cloud your judgment.
Mendy, 28, has said he regrets his behaviour but denies sexual offences.
Pal Louis Saha Matturie, 41, of Eccles, Salford, also denies charges.
The trial resumes at Chester crown court today.
