Katsina: Communal clash erupts in Faskari over banditry allegations

Published on April 07, 2025 at 03:06 PM

A communal conflict broke out on April 6, 2025, between residents of Doma ‘B’ and Balandawa villages in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, leading to widespread destruction of property and displacement of residents.

According to intelligence sources available to Zagazola Makama, the clash was triggered when vigilante members from Doma ‘B’ accused Balandawa villagers of harboring armed bandits.

The vigilantes claimed that bandits regularly passed through Ruwan Godiya and Balandawa, particularly after a controversial peace accord was allegedly reached between the villagers and the criminal elements.

In a retaliatory move, the vigilantes stormed Balandawa, setting huts ablaze, destroying food supplies, and either killing or dispersing livestock.

Nigerian troops were swiftly deployed to the area and managed to restore order.
