Katsina police nab suspects, recover illicit drugs worth ₦3.5 million

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug dealers and seized a large quantity of tramadol tablets worth ₦3,500,000.

The suspects, who both confessed to the offense, are currently under investigation.

One of the suspects, identified as 27-year-old Murtala Salisu from Bare-bari village in Safana Local Government Area, was arrested on March 20, 2025.

He was apprehended by police operatives at approximately 4:00 p.m. based on credible intelligence. Salisu was found in possession of 2,084 sachets of suspected tramadol tablets.

During interrogation, Salisu admitted to acquiring the illicit drugs from a person known only as Rabe from Nasarawa State.

He also implicated Tanimu Abubakar, an accomplice from Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State.

Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, quoted the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, “reaffirming the command's commitment to combating substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the state.”

Shehu also encouraged the public to provide valuable information to assist in the fight against crime.

This arrest is part of the ongoing efforts by the Katsina Police to tackle drug-related offenses and enhance the security of the state.
