King Charles admitted to hospital amid ‘side effects’ from cancer treatment

Published on March 28, 2025 at 09:12 AM

King Charles has cancelled engagements that were scheduled on Friday.

This is because he has suffered “temporary side effects” from his cancer treatment.

In a statement late on Thursday, Buckingham Palace noted that after “scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer” earlier in the day, the King “experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital”.

“His Majesty's afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

It added that the 76-year-old was back at Clarence House but “as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow's diary programme will also be rescheduled”.

“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” the palace said.

According to Sky's royal correspondent, Laura Bundock, it was “obviously a concern”, but we are being “advised this isn't a major problem in terms of his ongoing recovery”.
