Kogi Assembly Speaker harps on Executive, Legislature collaboration

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has emphasized the need for continued collaboration between the Executive and the Legislative Arms of government.

This is contained in a press statement made available to journalists by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed on Friday morning.

The statement said the speaker said this shortly after a meeting by the members of the State House of Assembly with the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in Lokoja on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Speaker said the continued efforts of Governor Ododo to attract progress to Kogi State and ensure development of every part by fighting all forms of insecurity were policies that required the support of every citizen.

He called on the citizens to continue to back the administration at all levels, stressing that everyone had seen the kind of passion and commitment that Ododo had for the state through his approach to governance.

Umar stressed that both the executive and the legislature were products of one family lineage, hence the need to focus only on issues that would turn around the fortunes of Kogi people for the better.

He expressed optimism that better days were ahead for Kogi people, noting that members of the State House of Assembly were committed to doing their bit to ensure the state was taken to the next level in terms of provision of dividends of democracy.
