Kogi: Curfew declared in Okehi LGA ahead of Senator Natasha’s planned homecoming

The Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area in Kogi State, Amoka Eneji Monday, has declared a curfew across the area as part of efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property.

DAILYPOST recalls that the state government had earlier declared a ban on all political rallies across the state, following a planned home coming by suspended Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, immediately after the Sallah.

Although the police had confirmed the ban, insisting remained in force, Senator Natasha vowed she must enter Kogi State with all her political myght.

However, in a statement on Tuesday, the LGA Chairman, said the 24 hours curfew is aimed at maintaining peace and order, following a ban on all political rallies and unregulated public gatherings within the LGA.

It said the curfew, which is effective immediately, restricts movement and gatherings in certain areas. Anyone found gathering or walking around restricted areas without permission from the relevant authorities will be arrested and charged to court.

“This is in line with the directive of the state government and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police,”it said.

According to Amoka, “The safety and security of our people are our top priority. We will not tolerate any actions that could compromise the peace and stability of our communities.”
