The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, of Kogi State chapter has expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership style of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, pointing out that the administration is not inclusive.
IPAC, in a statement issued to journalists in Lokoja by its Kogi State Chairman, Hon. Iliyas Badanga, criticized Governor Ododo for the way he has treated opposition political parties in the state since assuming office.
Badanga lamented that the current administration in Kogi State, led by Governor Ododo, has turned its back on opposition parties.
“IPAC has observed with dismay that relevance is given to those creating political turmoil and openly engaging government policies and the style of leadership by Gov. Ododo. This is unacceptable to IPAC, who stood with him all through.”
“Governor Ododo is not practicing an inclusive leadership style in his administration as he promised.”
“The Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter, wishes to address the entire Kogites on recent political shenanigans and the way opposition political parties are treated in the state. We have keenly watched the political developments in the state since the assumption of Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.”
“We make bold to say that opposition political parties are not being fairly treated, especially regarding the promise of an all-inclusive governance as exemplified by the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he lamented.
Badanga explained that Governor Ododo's style of administration is detrimental to the political parties that stood with the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the contentious governorship election that produced him as Governor.
His words: “It was based on the tripod of inclusive leadership that we built our common understanding to have a peaceful political environment for a cordial working relationship to attain the Kogi of our dreams. Unfortunately, that has not been the case.”
“Your desire to build a Kogi State devoid of political differences to achieve peace and tranquility for proper administrative drive is commendable, but not at the detriment of the political parties that stood with the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the contentious governorship election that produced Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo.”
“We have carefully observed with dismay that relevance is given to those creating political turmoil and openly engaging government policies and style of leadership.”
He warned that IPAC's loyalty to cooperate with the ruling All Progressives Congress should not be misconstrued as cowardice, adding that its support for Governor Ododo was based on competence, which has not been reciprocated.
“Our loyalty to cooperate with the ruling All Progressives Congress should not be misconstrued as cowardice, but as the desire to have a state where the son or daughter of a political outsider can aspire to become somebody due to his/her competence and capacity to contribute meaningfully to our political development.”
