LaLiga have rejected Real Madrid's request to have this weekend's fixture against Alaves brought forward by one day.

Los Blancos made the appeal to enable their squad get more rest ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal.

Carlo Ancelotti's men will play on Sunday, three days before they will attempt to overturn a 3-0 deficit at the Bernabeu.

According to Cadena SER, Real sent an email to LaLiga, asking for the match with Alaves to be moved to Saturday.

“Moving the match against Deportivo Alavés to Saturday, April 12 would allow us more time to adequately prepare for both that match and the decisive match on Wednesday, April 16 at the Santiago Bernabeu,” parts of the email read.

Real had contacted Alaves before submitting their request to LaLiga. And although their opponents were happy to accommodate them, the Spanish champions have been ordered to play the game as scheduled.

Arsenal, meanwhile, host Brenftord in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
