Landslide kills 4, injures 13 in Algeria

Published on April 27, 2025 at 01:00 PM

At least four people have died and 13 others injured in a landslide in Algeria’s western coastal city of Oran.

The civil defence agency said on Sunday that the landslide occurred late Saturday in the city’s Hai Essanouber district.

According to the agency, the four deceased were between five and 43 years old, stating that 13 other victims, aged between 12 and 75, suffered injuries.

At the time of filing this report authorities have not disclosed the reasons behind the landslide, which the interior ministry said caused the collapse of five tin houses.

The ministry said the death toll was final with no one still missing from the landslide.
