Flying Eze explores Lanzarote

WHILE Lanzarote is known for having more than 130 miles of spectacular coastline, it's also home to some amazing thrills.

One of those is Europe's largest outdoor go-karting tracks – Gran Karting Club Lanzarote opened in 1999 and claims to be the largest outdoor go-karting track in Europe.

Located on the southern side of the island, the attraction features two different circuits.

The Senior Track is 1,300m long and features 11 curves, while the Junior Track is a little shorter at 980m long with just 9 curves.

Both of the tracks are eight metres wide and are completely flat, which means there are no bumps or unevenness to navigate.

There are several different karts visitors can choose to go racing in, such as the Infantil and the Junior for kids.

For adult racers, there's also the Senior, Bigfoot and the Centurion.

There's also a double seat kart that has enough space for one adult and one child.

Visitors can also book to participate in a Mini Grand Prix, which includes two practice laps, five qualifying laps and a race.

One person wrote: “If you're in Lanzarote, this go-kart experience is a must-visit for adrenaline lovers.

“Even if you’re sitting out the racing, the bar area offers a great spot to watch the action.”

Also on the island are two amazing waterparks – Costa Teguise Aquapark and Aqua Lava Lanzarote water park.

Costa Teguise Aquapark is one of the oldest, with huge slides that only the brave can try.

Or you can go on one of the many off-road buggy tours, some of which go over the island sand dunes.

Earlier this year, Lanzarote locals revealed their best hidden gems, from cheap tapas spots and little-known beaches to affordable bars and three-course meals.

Flying Eze’s Head of Travel, Lisa Minot, visited Lanzarote earlier this year.

She said: “We wandered around the Pueblo Marinero, a complex of white-washed buildings with green wooden shutters and balconies that is home to a host of shops, houses andrestaurants.

“Las Cucharas beach was developed in a way to respect the natural landscape, and even humble roundabouts in the town feature sculptures and other artworks.

“But that’s not to say you’re in a Disneyesque fantasy: there are still oodles of places to eat and drink with the inevitable Irish bars and tapas joints offering happy hour £2 pints andcocktailsfrom £4.50.”

New flights are also launching to Lanzarote soon.

EasyJet are launching the routes from Birmingham having opened its ninth UK base there last year.

Three go-karting tracks to visit in the UK

THE best go-karting circuits aren't exclusively in Spain, with several in the UK. Here are some of the country's best…

Buckmore Park Kart Circuit, Kent
Located in Chatham, Kent, Buckmore Park is one of the most renowned karting circuits in the UK. It has hosted famous drivers such as Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in their early racing careers.

PF International Kart Circuit, Lincolnshire
PF International is the UK’s largest outdoor karting circuit and is often considered the pinnacle of karting in Britain. Located near Grantham, the track is FIA-approved and regularly hosts major karting competitions, including British and European championships.

TeamSport Karting, Various Locations
TeamSport is a leading indoor karting operator with multiple venues across the UK, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Bristol. While not a single circuit, their tracks are known for their high-quality designs, challenging layouts, and state-of-the-art facilities.

Back in 2023, the Ferrari Build and Race attraction opened at Legoland Windsor featuring three interactive zones.

Chaos Karts recently opened in Manchester, combining standard go-karting tracks with all the fun elements of games like Mario Kart.
