Larry Tamblyn dead: Music legend & singer of 1960s band The Standells dies aged 82 as his family pay tribute to star

MUSIC legend Larry Tamblyn has died aged 82 as his family have paid a touching tribute to the singer.

Tamblyn was the lead singer for The Standells who had major hit with Dirty Water in 1966.

Larry's nephew Dennis Tamblyn announced his uncle's passing on Facebook: “A few years ago, The Standells played at Hotel Congress here in Tucson and Larry stayed with me.

“It was so great to hang out with him and catch up. He was still making music well into his later years. You will be missed, Uncle Larry.”

The Standells are an American garage rock band from LA that have been referred to as a ‘punk band of the 1960s'.

Tamblyn came from a family of Hollywood stars, with his brother Russ starring in Django Unchained and Drive.
