LET'S be honest, ironing is one of those jobs that definitely feels like a chore.

Of all the household tasks, it's the one many of us dread and put off as long as possible.

A simple hack can speed up the process of ironing

But you can only ignore it for so long until the laundry pile starts overflowing and there's no school uniforms or work shirts ready.

Thankfully, a a laundry expert has come up with a hack that speeds up the hated chore.

And the best bit is it costs nothing.

In fact, you probably already have the item that's key to the trick in the house already.

Lora Finn, cleaning expert at Vileda says: “Satin items such as skirts and shirts are notoriously tricky to iron and easy to mark.

“It can also be a time-consuming task if you don’t have the right technique.”

She adds: “For a simple hack to save time and reduce shine marks on the fabric, simply take a thin piece of material (for example, a cotton pillowcase) and place it over your clothes when ironing.

“The sheet forms a barrier, protecting the delicate satin material of your clothes from direct heat from the iron.“

It comes after a cleaner revealed her own hack to remove creases if you hate ironing – and you don’t need to buy anything and it takes zero effort

Domestic cleaner MariyaGurkova, fromat-home services businessFantastic Services, revealed that a damp towel and tumble dryer are all you need to mimic an iron.

She said: “Put the wrinkled item in the dryer with a damp towel or a few ice cubes and run it on medium heat for about 15 minutes.

“Steam will be generated inside the dryer by the moisture from the towel or ice cubes, which will help loosen the wrinkles and smooth out the fabric. When dried, fold immediately to avoid ironing.”

She added: “You can also use a hair dryer to remove last-minute wrinkles.

“Simply dampen the wrinkled area of the garment with water or a wrinkle-removing spray. Use the lowest setting and pull the fabric taut when drying.

“Hair flat irons can help remove creases from small sections of clothing.”

Mariya also suggests that a hot cooking pot can be used to give your clothes a quick iron.

All you need to do is fill the pan with boiling water, let it heat up the pot and then pour it out. You can then use the base of the pot to smooth out your garments.
