‘HORSE of a lifetime' and former Grand National runner Lostintranslation has died aged 13.

The beloved fan favourite was a multiple Grade 1 winner and narrowly beaten third in the 2020 Gold Cup behind Al Boum Photo.

Trained by Joe Tizzard, the son of Flemensfirth won more than £420,000 on the track thanks to six victories from 28 races.

He enjoyed a magical 2019 where he won at Cheltenham on New Year's Day before collecting the Mildmay at Aintree during the Grand National Festival.

Later that year he bagged the Betfair Chase at Haydock just 20 days after winning a Listed contest at Carlisle.

Lostintranslation raced in the 2022 National but was well beaten having been sent off 50-1 under Harry Cobden.

He raced only four more times before being retired after being pulled in a handicap chase at Warwick in February 2023.

A horse who always found top gear this time of year for the big spring festivals, Lostintranslation was a favourite of punters for his stylish, exuberant jumping and will to win.

Hailed as a ‘fantastic creature' by his trainer, Lostintranslation sadly passed last weekend with the news filtering out on Wednesday.

One punter wrote: “Horse of a Lifetime. Made some great friends due to him and owned by some amazing people.

“Took me to plenty of big days that I could never have imagined. Memories I will never forget. RIP Lost.”

While another said: “Lostintranslation was a real fan favourite!

“My thoughts are with his owners and the whole team at Venn Farm.

“He deserved a long, happy and healthy retirement and it truly is awful to lose him at 13, just over two years into his retirement.”

And a third posted on X: “I don’t think my heart can take much more of this.

“RIP Lostintranslation, fly high you beautiful boy, your courage and determination will never be forgotten.”
