Young mum posts sick joke after scamming 78-year-old man out of £300,000 in jewellery

A YOUNG mum posted “mission complete”; on Snapchat after scamming a 78-year-old man out of £300,000 in jewellery.

Leonnie Charles, 23, was part of a gang targeting vulnerable pensioners by pretending to be officers.

She visited of elderly victims in 2021 to collect cash and heirlooms.

There were 27 victims in and the South, netting £416,000.

The biggest scam involved a suitcase containing £300,000 in family belonging to a professor, aged 78.

Charles posted a photo of it on and boasted about her successful mission.

Her victim told the he had been “robbed of a connection”; to his family.

The professor said: “The collection of jewellery spanned four generations.

“Some of it was over 100 years old.”

Charles, of Reading, Berks, admitted conspiracy to defraud.

She was jailed for 32 months at Winchester crown court in .
