“This particular client was struggling to treat her hair at home,”; she told What's The Jam.

“She tried multiple chemical products – which aren’t as effective anymore due to lice resistance.

“She also didn’t have the support she needed at home to have someone be able to comb her hair out for her.

“So this lice case grew and grew over time.”;

Rachel believes that this is one of the worst cases she’s had – but she managed to eventually clear them.

In fact, the client sits firmly in her top 10 when it comes to the worst headlice cases.

But all the work was well worth it in the end since the client was happy with the results.

“She really was glad to have someone help her out and we have stayed in contact since the treatment.

“She has been enjoying the break from the endless treatments she was suffering through.”;

The lice technician charges £115 per treatment and asks severe cases to come back for a second time, just to ensure they are gone.

In the clip, Rachel starts by closely showing the lice running around the client's head.

She then takes the comb to the girl's hair before revealing what came off.

Hundreds of lice and lice babies – which she scrapes onto a piece of kitchen roll.

Rachel continues to comb through until every single lice is found and discarded of.

By the end, the girl's hair looks much clearer and cleaner.

“It’s an important subject to talk about.”;

Lice Vs Nits: What's the difference?

Many people use the terms head lice and nits interchangeably, but they're actually different things.

In fact, head lice are found in three different forms:

  • Nits: these are the head lice eggs attached to the base of the hair. They may look like dandruff, but if take a closer look you can see that they're oval shaped instead of flat
  • Nymphs: think of these as baby lice – they're smaller and have a greyish-white colour
  • Head lice: these are tan-coloured and can be seen moving quickly along the hair or across the scalp
