Lightning strike kills herder, 12 cows in Southern Kaduna

A tragic lightning strike in Southern Kaduna has claimed the life of a young herder and 12 cows.

The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to the Village Head, Simon Ayuba, the herder had sought shelter from the rain alongside his cattle when the thunderstorm struck, killing them instantly.

“The herder, along with 12 cows, died on the spot. It was a heartbreaking event that has left the community in mourning,”; Ayuba said.

Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, the Ardo of Bondon District, confirmed that the deceased herder hailed from Bauchi State.

He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged prayers and support for the bereaved family.
