Argentina’s Lionel Messi has won the Golden Ball Award, also known as the Best Player of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Superstar Messi became the first to be the tournament’s best player twice in 2014 and 2022.

The 35-year-old Paris Saint Germain, PSG, forward, scored seven goals in the Qatar World Cup with several assists.

Messi has been decorated in top-tier competitions and leagues, including UEFA Champions League, Copa America, La Liga and Ligue 1.

The seven-times Ballon d’Or winner helped his country to break the 36-years world cup drought.

Messi has further surpassed the Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo’s record by adding the FIFA World Cup to his medals.
