Liverpool and Everton reportedly attempted to move next week's derby set to take place at Anfield

However, both wanted to bring the clash forward by 24 hours – largely due to Arsenal's fixture schedule.

The Daily Mail has revealed that both clubs saw the positives in moving the televised match to the Tuesday.

That is because Arsenal face Fulham on Tuesday night before meeting with Everton in the lunchtime match on Saturday.

Therefore, the Gunners will have more time to recover and prepare for the Goodison Park fixture.

And given the fact they are Liverpool‘s main title rivals, Arne Slot and Co had no problem with the prospect of moving the derby.

However, the Premier League denied the request.

Chiefs were allegedly unmoved because the original date will not cause either club to play two games within the space of 60 hours, which is the minimum period permissible.

Liverpool currently lead the Prem table, 12 points clear of Arsenal with nine games left to play.

Meanwhile, Everton sit 14th and comfortably above the relegation zone.

The Toffees held their rivals to a dramatic 2-2 draw at Goodison Park last month thanks to a late equaliser from James Tarkowski.
