However, she was quick to assure fans that they'll be back in business on Thursday as normal.

Speaking to the camera, she said: “Listen, we've got to go unfortunately. We'd love to stay for the afternoon. We're not here tomorrow either, because of the Spring Statement.”

As the audience audibly groaned, Ruth joked: “I'm sure you're all looking forward to that!

“We are going to be back on Thursday, though with Adolescence actor, Mark Stanley, we hope you can join us then. Until then have a lovely afternoon.”

The Spring Statement will be delivered in the House of Commons tomorrow by Rt Hon. Rachel Reeves,Chancellor of the Exchequer.

She will deliver a 20-minute assessment on the UK economy – but has already signalled it won’t be a “tax and spend” event.

Previously, Reeves has vowed to have only one major fiscal event per year so any such decisions will have to be put back until the Autumn.

She used last autumn’s event for a £40billion tax raid including the controversial £25billion hit to business with anational insurance rise.

It is expected Reeves will announce further spending cuts to Whitehall departments in a bid to balance the books.

The Statement comes after Reeves and Welfare Secretary Liz Kendalldelivered £5billion of cuts to the benefits bill last week.

Labour MPs are lobbying the government so individuals don’t lose several thousand pounds as part of the cuts.

The health and disability bill, which currently sits at £65billion, is expected to rocket to £100billion over the next four years.
