If Michelle, who is British but lives in Ibiza, signs up to take part, she will be the first woman to appear on since it started in 2015.

A source said: “Love Island are always looking to evolve and move with the times when it comes to their contestants.

“They have met with Michelle and spoken to her about whether Love Island would be the right show for her.

“She is absolutely gorgeous and an advocate for the trans community so she’d be an incredibly interesting contestant.

“The Love Island casting process takes a long time and thousands of men and women try and get themselves a place on the show each series, so the competition is fierce.

“If Michelle makes the cut it would be a huge moment for Love Island but nothing has been decided yet.”;

ITV top boss Kevin Lygo previously said that ITV wanted to continue pushing boundaries with the show but said they weren’t able to cast gay contestants because of “logistics”;.

He said in 2021: “Love Island is a particular thing, of course, it’s about boys and girls coupling up.

“So if you wanted to do a gay version, or you wanted to widen it, it is discussed and we haven’t yet found a way that would make it suitable for that show.

“You talk about , we had a gay couple on before that. We had a blind skater on Dancing On Ice, we had a disabled person in last year.

“So I think ITV is already involved in the portrayal of a wide range of people on their shows.”;

The summer series of Love Island will start again this June with host front and centre.

It will mark ten years of being on screen, with the first ever show airing in June 2015.

as the host of the show in October 2022.

She has proved to be the most popular host of the series and has carved out a hugely successful career off the back of Love Island.
