The popular dating show is going to be returning for series 12, and fans of the show are already gearing up for another summer of love.

And there really isn’t long to wait before the new series kicks off, with Islanders now signed up by ITV and shooting promo ahead of the launch.

A source told Flying Eze: “A lot of islanders have already been signed up by ITV and they're shooting the pics of the OG islanders next week.

“They'll fly out in April or the very start of May to go into lockdown and then the show kicks off a few weeks after that.”;

Last year, it was around May that the full line-up was confirmed by Flying Eze.

Maya Jama is getting set to host the brand new series, and it follows hot on the heels of All Stars, which went down a treat with Love Island fans this January.

Last summer, the show was won by Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan, as they beat Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies to be named the 2024 winners.

Welsh couple Ciaran and Nicole were firm fan favourites throughout the series after coupling up at the very start.

They'd been hotly tipped to scoop the £50,000 prize – leaving viewers stunned when it went the other way.

Viewers also thought they worked out the ‘real reason' Mimii and Josh won the public vote.

Although Josh came into the show fairly late, Mimii won over fans from the moment she entered the villa.

Many speculated that they only won because of Mimii's popularity and not because of their relationship.

Last year’s series was also cleared by Ofcom after more than 3,600 complaints were made against the show during the series.

Fans flocked to the broadcasting watchdog to complain about scenes in the series, which aired over summer 2024.

That included explosive arguments and complaints about behaviour of some stars towards others.

One episode saw 1,832 viewers coming forward angry over a screaming match following a ‘Graftie Awards’ game.

Others accused islanders of ‘bullying’ and ‘racist’ comments towards their fellow villa-mates in previous episodes

Among the incidents, Joey Essex and Sean Stone were accused of ‘ganging up’ on Mimii Ngulube and Josh Odukoya over their relationship.

In another, Jess White was accused by viewers of ‘bullying’ love rival Harriett Blackmore.

In total, 3,645 complaints were made about the show, but Ofcom revealed no further action would be pursued.

A statement released by Ofcom (via The Mirror) said: “We carefully assessed complaints about this series on a range of issues including alleged bullying and racism.

“We recognise that emotionally charged or confrontational scenes can upset some viewers.

“But, in our view, negative behaviour in the villa was not shown in a positive light, and contestants were seen supporting or apologising to each other.”;

They added they had “taken into account the format being well established”; with “viewers expecting to see highs and lows as relationships are tested”;.
