Luke Humphries walk-on song: What is the darts player’s entrance music and lyrics and why did he change it?

IN 2024, darts player Luke Humphries almost caused a riot when he changed his walk-on song.

Up until April 2024, whenever the 29-year-old made his way to the oche, DNCE’s Cake by the Ocean would be blasting through the venue. As the Premier League Darts Championship is underway, here’s what we know about his song.

What is Luke Humphries' walk-on song called?

In an effort to get the crowd buzzing, the World No.1 ditched his usual walk-on tune, Cake By The Ocean, and went with the Kaiser Chiefs‘ classic I Predict A Riot.

It clearly did the trick, as Luke Humphries cruised past Rob Cross with a dominant 6-1 win in the 2024 BetMGM Premier League.

Fittingly, the Kaiser Chiefs hail from Leeds too, and the crowd loved it, belting out the chorus like it was a hometown anthem.

Luke had caught a bit of flak in the past for his original choice.

DNCE’s upbeat pop hit wasn’t exactly known for firing up a crowd.

Sure, it might not have been the most intimidating walk-out track, but it worked for him, after all, he did go on to win the 2024 World Darts Championship with it.

Still, trading the pop tune for a high-energy, fan-favourite anthem feels like a power move.

At the time, Luke had dropped a little hint that he might be switching up his walk-out song ahead of his match against Cross.

He said: “I’ve got a new shirt and it’s Leeds inspired and just for Thursday night.

“It will be the most special Premier League night yet for me. I’ve been looking forward to this one more than any of them.

“It would also be a very special feeling to win. The pressure is off me now having qualified for the O2.

“I will look forward to enjoying it but really hungry to win as well.

“My mum, dad, brother and girlfriend will all be there.

“Especially for my dad and brother it will be special because they are Leeds fans as well.

“It’s going to be good to see the reception I get in Leeds. I’m sure it will be emotional.

“If I win it will be right up there with my first major win and obviously winning the Worlds. It won’t be as good but it will be up there.

The old walkout song was nothing to do with me, really. This has a little of me in it.

“I just know the feeling of winning in a city so close to my heart would be incredible. It would mean a lot.

“But regardless of the result, I’m just looking forward to performing in Leeds.”;

Why did Luke Humphries change his song?

In November 2024, Luke confirmed to talkSPORT that he had changed his tune because he hadn’t actually chosen the original one.

He said: “I changed it for the exact reason I didn't pick my first one.

“I changed it to the Kaizer Chiefs' ‘I Predict A Riot'.

“There's a little bit of a factor of that being a Leeds football song that they like to play, so it has a little bit of character towards what I like.

The Kaiser Chiefs are a favourite amongst Leeds fans

“The old walkout song was nothing to do with me, really. This has a little of me in it.

“Sometimes it's hard when you're walking out because you get a little bit of abuse because everyone knows I'm a Leeds fan.

“But it's all in good jest, it's good fun and I don't really mind it, to be fair.”

Unsurprisingly, Luke's a die-hard Leeds fan.

He even showed off his World Championship trophy at Elland Road in front of the home supporters, buzzing with pride.

His dad actually named him Luke as a tribute to the club as it's an acronym for Leeds United, Kings of Europe.

He’s currently top of the PDC’s Order of Merit, which ranks players based on their earnings from ranked tournaments over two years.

He’s already racked up a tidy £1.75million.

What are the lyrics to I Predict A Riot?

Watching the people get lairy
It's not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
It's not very sensible either
A friend of a friend he got beaten
He looked the wrong way at a policeman
Would never have happened to Smeaton
An Old Leodensian

La… la, la, la, la, la
Ah… la, la, la, la, la

I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot

I tried to get to my taxi
The man in a tracksuit attacks me
He said that he saw it before me
And wants to get things a bit gory
Girls scrabble 'round with no clothes on
To borrow a pound for a condom
If it wasn't for chip fat they'd be frozen
They're not very sensible
