Published on March 30, 2025 at 04:55 PM

A CRASH near a shopping centre has shut a major motorway sparking chaos for drivers.

Queues have been seen stretching back a whopping five miles on the M5 south of Junction 16, heading northbound, following the crash.

Currently, one lane in the northbound carriageway is shut, and there is “slow traffic” from Junction 17 for Cribbs Causeway shopping centre up to Junction 16 for the A38.

It is not yet known how many vehicles have been involved in the crash or whether there have been any injuries.

Traffic maps appear to show queues from the exit for Hallen, just north of Junction 18, all the way up to the exit for Almondsbury.

The busy stretch of road is located between the M4 and M49, around five miles north of Bristol.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported: “One lane closed and slow traffic due to accident on M5 northbound from J17 A4018 (Cribbs Causeway) to J16 A38 Gloucester Road (Aztec West).”
