A MARRIED At First Sight couple have announced their shock split with a heartbreaking statement, a year after appearing on the show.

Jack and Tori became one of the most explosive pairings in the franchise's global history and it seemed almost certain that their union was doomed to fail.

And only recently, MAFS fans took to social media to share their shock that the couple were still together, after a tumultuous romance on the show.

Realising they were still going strong, one fan said: “Love to randomly check up on old MAFS couples and I caaaannot believe Jack and Tori are still together.”

But the pair have now revealed that they’ve decided to break up.

Posting an emotional statement, they wrote to fans: “If you have been following our journey, you know we have always been authentic and true to ourselves.

“We have invited you in and brought you along for the wild ride

“However today we come to you with heavy hearts. As of a few weeks ago, we have decided to end our romantic relationship.

“We remain best of friends and still care for and respect one another deeply.”;

The statement continued: “We are so grateful to have shared so many wonderful experiences together and will cherish them forever. We thank our families for their unconditional love and support.

“We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the love and support that you guys have shown us throughout.”;

The message was signed off: “With love, Tori & Jack xox,”; accompanied by a broken heart emoji.

Before the split, the couple recently opened up on how they have stuck together since the show.

Speaking to Mamamia, Jack said: “I believe adversity makes you stronger. Having the unfortunate journey on MAFS, [due] to NO fault of our own (minus a couple moments of poor judgement), has made us an indestructible couple.

“We had to learn extremely quickly to trust, love and respect each other under immense pressure, so continuing our relationship in the real world has been a breeze.

“Tori and I still share ridiculous banter daily, and continue to live, love and laugh.”

The pair were living together in the Gold Coast of Australia.

When they first got together on the show, Jack was branded a “walking red flag” by fans.

In scenes screened when they first met, he told the camera: “She seems sweet. I think she'll challenge me a little bit, but I definitely reckon I'll sort her out, and we'll have a good time.

“I definitely want to play that dominant role to Tori; it might be a bit of a power struggle. But I feel like she's gonna be a good girl.”

Some viewers were worried about Jack's comments about submissive women and immediately likened him to series 10 groom Harrison Boon, who was repeatedly called out by his co-stars and viewers for “gaslighting” bride Bronte Schofield.
