Major road near tourist hotspot CLOSED in both directions after early-morning crash as drivers warned about huge delays

A MAJOR road near a scenic tourist hotspot has been shut in both directions after an early-morning crash.

Drivers have been warned there could be severe delays and urged to plan ahead.

Embankment road, between theA379at Bowcombe Creek Bridge and Sandy Lane, has been closed off, with investigation work ongoing.

The beauty spot is just outside the South Devon National Landscape and near Kingsbridge.

Devon Alert reported the incident at 5.36am this morning and shared the news on X.

It wrote: “A379 Embankment Rd, Kingsbridge is closed following an RTC.

“A diversion is being set up. Please expect delays if travelling in this area.”

Real-time traffic data analysis organisation Inrix said: “Embankment Road in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between the A379 (Bowcombe Creek Bridge) and Sandy Lane (Bowcombe Bridge).”
