A large number of women staged a protest march in Port Harcourt on Friday demanding the reinstatement of the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

A viral video captured the women marching to the State Government House with different placards which had inscriptions such as ‘Bring back Fubara', ‘Is the law different for Rivers State?'

Other inscriptions include, ‘God of justice, arise for Rivers State', ‘Save our democracy', ‘End injustice and bring back our governor'.

The protesters, “as mothers and wives”, appealed to President Bola Tinubu, “to immediately reinstate all democratic institutions in Rivers State, including the return of our duly elected governor”.

They also demanded an end to what they termed as “unconstitutional military rule in Rivers State, masked as a state of emergency”.

DAILY POST recalls that Governor Fubara was earlier in March suspended for six months following the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers by Tinubu.

The governor, his deputy and all members of the House of Assembly were all suspended.
