MANCHESTER CITY and Aston Villa face off tonight in a crucial Premier League clash with Champions League qualification on the line.

SunSport betting experts have previewed the contest and selected the best bets, tips and exclusive sign-up bonuses from our leading betting partners.

Man City vs Aston Villa preview

Manchester City host Aston Villa tonight in a clash that could prove decisive in the race for Champions League qualification.

With the Premier League title all but bound for Anfield and the relegation picture largely settled, the spotlight has shifted to the battle for European places.

Thanks to England securing a minimum of five Champions League spots next season, the path to Europe's top table is slightly wider.

But that hasn’t eased the pressure.

Just three points separate seventh-placed Villa from Nottingham Forest in third, with only five games left to play.

City have rediscovered their rhythm at just the right time. Pep Guardiola's side are unbeaten in four, taking 10 points from a possible 12, and registering three clean sheets in the process — the latest coming in a late 2-0 win at Goodison Park.

The reigning champions have qualified for the Champions League in each of the past 14 seasons, and a win tonight would go a long way toward extending that streak.

History is on their side. City have won their last 14 Premier League home games against Villa, scoring at least twice in each of the past 13.

They're also enjoying a remarkable run of nine consecutive home league wins in the month of April, netting 35 goals and conceding just eight in that stretch.

Yet Villa arrive in equally formidable form. Unai Emery’s men have won 10 of their last 11 in all competitions, including a thrilling 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain before bowing out of the Champions League.

Their 4-1 demolition of Newcastle at the weekend marked a fifth straight league victory—their best run since April 2023. One more would set a new club record in the Premier League era.

Villa edged the reverse fixture 2-1 back in December and now have a shot at completing their first league double over City since the 1962-63 season.

Goals

There really shouldn't be a lack of goals in tonight's encounter. There's been a whopping 14 goals scored in their last three meetings at the Etihad with scorelines of 4-1, 3-1 and 3-2.

Manchester City have scored 36 goals in 11 home games in all competitions in 2025, scoring two or more goals in 10 out of 11 games, while Villa have won each of their last two away Premier League games 3-0.

The pair also ranks top for xG over the last four matches (9.56 & 8.58) – comfortably higher than Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Home comforts

Manchester City talisman Omar Marmoush should thrive in tonight's goal-filled encounter. The Egyptian forward has been in scintillating form at home, netting six goals in just six Premier League appearances at the Etihad – averaging a strike every 81 minutes.

Extending back to his time at Eintracht Frankfurt, Marmoush has racked up 14 goals and six assists in his last 17 home league matches, underlining his consistent threat on home turf.
