Man Utd set for huge boost with THREE players returning from injury when Premier League resumes after World Cup

Published on December 05, 2022 at 03:33 PM

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Erik ten Hag is set for a TRIPLE injury boost ahead of the resumption of the season later this month.

That’s because Manchester Evening News claim Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams and Tom Heaton could all be fit and available in the near future.

Brandon Williams spent last season on loan at Norwich City
Axel Tuanzebe has not played for United since the 2021 Europa League final
Tom Heaton has made one United appearance since arriving in the summer of 2021

Ten Hag‘s team are currently in Spain ahead of a training camp, which includes friendlies against Cadiz and Real Betis.

Heaton and Williams have travelled with the rest of the non World Cup players, although Tuanzebe is recovering at Carrington and hasn’t been named.

The centre-back has been sidelined for the entire season with a back problem and hasn’t played for United since the 2021 Europa League final.

Williams has also been out for the whole campaign with his last appearance for the club coming on the final day of 2020-21.

Meanwhile, Heaton has been on the treatment table for the last month following a knee injury sustained in training back in October.

But the report claims the trio are ALL hopeful of returning to action ahead of the restart.

United’s Premier League return is at Nottingham Forest on 27 December, the first of three top-flight games in eight days.

But that comes after they host Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

And with much of the squad recovering from the World Cup likely to be rested, Ten Hag could name a weakened side for the fourth round tie.

With that in mind, the likes of Williams and Tuanzebe will be hoping to get a rare opportunity.
