And one savvy shopper was quick to share how to get a hold of it for yourself.

Zara Prescott, took to Facebook to share how she found the offer and bagged a box of the £6 sweet treat for herself.

She wrote: “If you have a young child (not sure the age limit. My son is 2 for comparison) and you are a member of the M&S parent club through Sparks you can get a free box of biscuits worth £6 for Mother’s Day.”

“The milk choc box and mixed choc box are in the offer,” the mum exclaimed.

In the deal, you can pick up milk chocolate selections, a mix including a variety of dark, milk, and white chocolates, or their dairy-free box.

However, the offer is only available to some customers, so if you want to know if you are eligible, keep reading.

Zara shared the deal on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

People were quick to thank her for sharing the freebie.

One person wrote: “Thank you, just had a look and I have it showing on mine, so I'll be collecting them tomorrow.”

Another commented: “I got mine today too, really chuffed they’re £6 to buy – nice little freebie.”

“Ooh it’s on mine thank you I wouldn’t have noticed,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “I got the free box too.”

“My little one is 27, I wonder if I’ll qualify?”; joked a fifth.

Someone else added: “Them biscuits are nice!”

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you're not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you'll save by going for the supermarket's own brand bars.

Shop around – if you've spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it's cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you're getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they've been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you've got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

To qualify for the offer you need to be a Sparks Member, which is a free loyalty scheme for the store.

It gives you offers and occasionally free items based on your past shopping.

You will then need to register for the M&S Parenthood Club by going to the “My Account” section of the Sparks app and click on “Subscriptions & clubs”.

You should see the option to register for Parent Hood which you can sign up for if you are an expectant parent or have a child under two years old.

Once you register, you should see the offer to claim the free biscuits in store.
