MEGHAN Markle's appearance at an event for the world's most inspiring people was a joke – she only helps herself, claimed an expert.

The , 43, spoke about her latest Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, at the glitzy TIME100 summit in New York last night.

Meghanandjoined some of the world's “most influential people” at the posh event at the Lincoln Centre.

The summit, which featured stars from and , was designed to “spotlight solutions and encourage action toward a better world”.

In an on-stage interview, the mum-of-two explained the “fairy”-like flower sprinkles that heavily feature in herdocuseries.

Hugo Vickers told The Sun: “It did seem to me very much off message, and entirely as usual, focused on her and what she was doing, and she professes to be extremely happy.

“Well, I'm delighted to hear that, because I'm not sure how happy she's made other people certainly over the last few years.

“When she's sent out all sorts of very unpleasant messages which have upset certainly many people in the Bush role family, and over here.

“To use an occasion like that to one promote your own Netflix show and to to profess that all is well in the world, and that you're happy, and your children are happy, and everybody else is happy, does seem to me to some extent rather inappropriate.”

Despite being recognised for charity work when she hit headlines as an actress in , Meghan's focus seems to have switched to her own businesses.

In just four months, the mum-of-two has released herofficially launched her brand As Ever, and dropped the podcast.

Mr Vickers added: “Certainly early on, before she married Prince Harry, she was doing rather a lot of philanthropic work as a lot of film stars do.

“She addressed the United Nations, and she went to African countries, and she was involved in all sorts of things.

“But now it all seems to be focused on promoting herself and her business activities.

“There seems to be very little about philanthropy and many things she said last night, and talking about herself as a little fairy, sprinkling joy and happiness everywhere.

“That seems to me rather irrelevant.

“I'm sure they were delighted to be invited to this, because, as you say, it was an occasion where a lot of movers and shakers were present, and so to be included in this sort of list of people who are global influences, I guess, will have been absolutely grist to their mill.”

Meghan flaunting her happiness and perfect life on stage, seemed in stark contrast to husband Harry's last public appearance.

The Duke seemed dejected after leaving the High Court in London earlier this month after fighting his security row.

Part of the and the dad-of-two gave an interview to The Telegraph shortly.

He stated that his “worst fears” had been confirmed by what he heard in the secret session.

added: “People would be shocked by what's being held back.”

“I have thought for a long time that Prince Harry has looked extremely unhappy,” said Mr Vickers.

“He's a very different man than he was when he was a working member of the royal family and putting things into life.

“You're usually happier if you're putting things in rather than taking things out, actually doing good for other people.

“And certainly there have been lots of images of him recently, looking very dejected.

“If she is happy, I'm not sure that he is so.

“In that case it did seem she was pushing out a message which wasn't entirely all encompassing.”

This comes after Meghan said she “didn't want a reality show” as she defended her Netflix series at the event.

Upon arrival, the the Sussexes posed for photos alongside TIME presenter Jessica Sibley and journalist Sam Jacobs.

The mother-of-two wore a $5,000 matching beige silk suit with white shirt and $495 suede heels, while Harry sported a black suit.

On stage, Meghan was quizzed by Jessica about what went on behind the scenes of With Love, Meghan – including why she decided to film the show at a rented home.

The Duchess explained that she didn't want her kids, Lilibet and Archie, to be exposed to the show's 80 crew members, saying: “Eighty people in the kitchen isn't really the childhood memory I’d like them [her kids] to have.”

Elaborating on the series, she said: “Part of what’s really really important is that love language of taking care of people feeds me. It’s in many ways part of my self care.”

When asked how she avoided burnout during filming, she added: “Doing it in a way that’s thoughtful and so authentic it actually energises you as opposed to depleting you.”

She said that she was determined to make a cooking show that didn't “feel like a typical show”, adding: “I didn’t want a reality show.”

When asked about the infamous flower sprinkles, Meghan joked: “Oh my gosh!

“You’d think I’m a little fairy tossing them around all the time. The obsession that has come with flower sprinkles.

“Of all things we could be talking about...it speaks to the tiny moment of joy that are so effortless and create a little bit of magic we’re all craving every day.

“The level of charm people have when they see these tiny littke dried petals is something I can’t wrap my head around but appreciate.

“There is a love for the detail and a small level of delight that can be added.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Meghan gushed that she was “happier than ever”.

“I’m the happiest that I’ve ever been,” she said, “and to have a partner and husband who is so supportive and have healthy kids who are so joyful and in the freeness of their life and the safety of their life we created for them.

“Of all the things that happened I never would have imagined at this point I’d be so happy and free and I really do.”

The Duchess accessorised her outfit with a $28,000 Cartier gold watch, a pair of Balenciaga hoop earrings, and a $180 Veronica Beard brown belt.

The event marks Meghan and Harry's first official appearance together since they were spotted at the in February.
