Messi states position on allegation of using Mexico jersey to clean floor

Published on December 01, 2022 at 11:56 AM

Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has insisted that he did not disrespect the people of Mexico or the jersey of their national football team.

Messi stated this after multiple world boxing champion, Canelo Alvarez, apologized to him after accusing him of using a Mexico jersey to clean the floor following Argentina’s World Cup win.

Alvarez acknowledged his mistake and offered apologies to the Paris Saint-Germain forward on Wednesday.

The Mexico boxer tweeted he got carried away by passion and love for his country and apologized to Messi and the people of Argentina.

He said, “These last few days I got carried away by the passion and love I feel for my country and I made comments that were out of place. “So I want to apologize to Messi and the people of Argentina.”;

However, speaking on the development after Argentina’s World Cup 2-0 victory over Poland on Wednesday night, Messi assured that he does not have to apologize because he didn’t disrespect Mexico.

The former Barcelona captain said, “I saw that he spoke now, but I think it was a misunderstanding, those who know me know that I don’t disrespect anyone. I don’t have to apologize because I did not disrespect the people of Mexico or the shirt or anyone.”;
