She insisted baby Binky will be absolutely “fine”

“It's so selfish to give your daughter such a ridiculous name,” one person raged.

“She has to go her entire life with that name, enter the professional world and get a serious with that name.

“She has to live with it.”

Holding her daughter Binky, she jokingly told the tot in a video response on TikTok: “Find yourself a rich, rich man and hold on tight because your mama bossed a bit too close to the sun.

“And now works seven days a week because she wanted to be an independent woman.”

Referring to the part of the comment which had mentioned her “having to enter the professional world”, the woman told her little girl: “You do you baby cakes.

“Whatever you want to do, I'll support you.

“But I'm sure she's going to be fine!”

Her response didn't stop people from taking aim at her over Binky's name though, with one person writing: “I don’t think you understand that you're not naming a baby, you're naming an adult.”

“Oh my God,” another sighed.

“If I was an employer and saw an application from ‘Binky' I'd bin it without even reading it!

“Please tell me she has a normal middle name she can go by?”

With the mum responding to reveal Binky doesn't actually have a middle name.

“Tbf it is a very bad name that will probably disadvantage her over the course of her life,” a third wrote.

“It is a little selfish, but she will survive.”

But others defended the mum over the name choice.

“One of my finance directors had the coolest name ever, and that made me not care about what I named my kids!” one wrote.

“Why are folk so triggered by a name?” another wondered.

“I guess you should apologise for not calling her Susan.... I’d love to have a unique name!” a third commented.

“Binky is a lovely name!”

“How often do we get a chance to name something and people will pick the most boring/common names going!” someone else said.

“Binky is a fab name.

“One day she'll thank you for not being sat in class with 4 other kids with the same name.

“Ignore the hate from the dull crowd. They've never had an original thought.”

The criticism continued when people found out the woman's other child is a son called Bart.

When one person said Bart can expect to be called “Bart Simpson” when he's older, she replied that it's “fine by me”.

“Bart loves ,” she smiled.

“He has The Simpsons Christmas pyjamas, he has The Simpsons Oodie, and he watches The Simpsons with his dad.”

They also have some “cool Simpsons artwork” around the house, and even dressed up as The Simpsons when Bart was a baby.

That's not to say Bart is named after the yellow character – as she insisted she and everyone who matters knows that the name inspiration came from elsewhere.
