AN “ADORED” great-grandmother at the centre of a murder investigation has been pictured for the first time.
Judy Zussman, 93, was found dead at a home in Gatley, Greater Manchester, yesterday, and a probe has now been launched after a 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of her murder.
The great-grandmother's family has also released an emotional statement, praising Judy for her kindness and devotion.
They wrote: “Judy was a much loved and devoted wife to her late husband Jack, and an adored sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
“Her family meant the world to her.
“We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support at this tragic time.”
The family added: “We kindly ask for privacy as we process our sad loss.”
Greater Manchester Police said the woman arrested on suspicion of murder had been detained under the mental health act.
Judy's family continue to be supported by specialist officers whilst the investigation is ongoing, police added.
Cops had attended the scene at the home on Wednesday at around 9.38am, and a cordon was put in place as detectives and forensic officers searched the property.
Judy was the widow of well-known mineralogist Professor Jack Zussman, a former head of department at the University of Manchester, who died last August at the age of 100.
