Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a 25-year-old man, Buhari Mustapha, during a late-night raid on a suspected criminal hideout in the Masaka area of Karu Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted around 10:30 p.m. on April 25, 2025, at a notorious spot known as “Me and You,”; was part of ongoing efforts to flush out criminal elements across the state, following the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed.
Confirming the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect was found in possession of an English-made Beretta pistol, bearing breech number APL-C42201378075, along with twelve rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
“A thorough search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol and live ammunition, all of which have been taken as exhibits,”; Nansel stated.
Following the arrest, CP Mohammed ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case to track down other accomplices and dismantle any criminal network operating in the area.
Commending the officers for the successful operation, the Commissioner said, “The officers are commended for their dedication and consistent pressure on criminals. They are urged to sustain the momentum in the fight against crime.”;
The Police Command also reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information.
