‘Natural disasters are getting more frequent’ – US senator knocks Trump

Published on March 29, 2025 at 02:55 PM

Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester has slammed President Donald Trump's administration for allegedly urging states to fend for themselves.

In a post on her official X handle on Saturday, the lawmaker expressed concerns that Trump is less sensitive to natural disasters that are getting more frequent in the United States.

“Natural disasters are getting more and more frequent and the Trump administration is now telling states: ‘fend for yourselves.’

“It’s as heartless as it is thoughtless, and our communities will be worse off for it,” she wrote.

Some states like California have been hit by several disasters ranging from wildfire to massive storms.

Reports emerged on Friday that over the next seven days, the state will see multiple shots at significant spring rainfall.

The pattern is so persistent with storm activity that it may be hard to distinguish when one storm system ends and a new one begins.
