April has been the best month for new Netflix movies and shows of 2021 so far. And, May is going to be even better for Netflix new releases!
That will likely be the case each month for the rest of the year, relatively speaking, of course. There were so many movies and shows delayed because of the pandemic. For the first few months of 2021, we weren’t seeing many returning shows that were in production when the shutdown happened or those that were going to film in early to mid-2020.
Now, we are starting to see some of those shows and movies, including Lucifer season 5 part 2, which only had a few days of filming left when everything was shut down last spring.
Well, the good news is there are tons of good movies and original shows heading to Netflix in May 2021, so let’s get to the list.

Before we dive in, I should also note that this is not the full list of new Netflix movies and shows coming in May. Netflix hasn’t shared the full list quite yet, but they will be doing so soon.
This list has all the previously announced release dates for new Netflix movies and shows coming in May.
As mentioned, there are some major new releases on the way! Lucifer season 5 part 2 is going to be the most popular show coming in May. The new episodes drop on May 28.
Before that, viewers will want to check out a new show, Jupiter’s Legacy, on May 7. It’s a new super-series based of the comic of the same name from Mark Millar’s Millarworld. I’m expecting it will be a massive hit.
For new Netflix movies, we have The Woman in the Window starring Amy Adams coming on May 14, followed by Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, a new zombie-heist movie, on May 21.
