Published on April 12, 2025 at 07:40 PM

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Niger State has disclosed that it has effectively adopted Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR mechanisms in resolving the clash between youths in the Kwangila and Ketaren-Gwari areas of Minna, the Niger State capital.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Rabi’u Muti, in Minna, the Civil Defence Corps stated that a confrontation erupted between the two communities, prompting NSCDC to intervene and restore normalcy.

According to the statement: “Personnel of the NSCDC, who were nearby on official assignment, were instructed to intervene, and upon arrival, they found a crowded scene and managed to disperse the crowd.”

Muti stated: “The State Commandant, Adamu Abdullahi Kambra, therefore, call on the public to disregard any false claim circulating on social media, alleging that the NSCDC shot someone; instead, the command was working tirelessly to resolve the issue through ADR mechanism.”

The NSCDC PRO revealed that the command employed several conflict resolution mechanisms, including mediation, problem-solving strategy, communication, and collaboration in addressing the clash.

Aside from this, the statement further noted that a high-level meeting is scheduled to take place shortly, in conjunction with community leaders, to consolidate the peace process.

“We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the people of Minna and other security agencies and we assure them of our commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state,”; Muti added.
