Nigerian Army debunks viral shooting video linked to Northern Nigeria

Published on March 27, 2025 at 06:19 PM

The Nigerian Army has refuted claims surrounding a viral video that falsely depicts a shooting incident in Northern Nigeria.

According to a post on it's official X handle, the Army said upon thorough verification, it has been confirmed that the footage actually captures a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso, not Nigeria.

According to the Army, the video in question documents an attack carried out by Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) against Burkinabe security and defense forces in Pama on January 29-30, 2025.

The Army urges the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of information before sharing sensitive content, emphasizing the need to curb the spread of misinformation.
