1. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has lashed out at opposition politicians mobilising for a coalition against President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The party's chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, emerging from a meeting between former President Muhammadu Buhari and an APC delegation in Kaduna on Friday night, described the brains behind the coalition as strange bed fellows who cannot work together.
2. Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, (PDP-Kogi Central) has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to dismiss the petition by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, accusing her of criminal defamation and incitement. Natasha in a statement by her counsel, Victor Giwa, urged the IGP to investigate Akpabio over allegations of threats to her life.
3. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has slammed the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris for dismissing the recent concerns he raised regarding the security situation in the state. Zulum in an interview with journalists, said the information minister is naïve of what is happening in the country.
4. Improvised Explosive Device (IED) suspected to be planted by Boko Haram insurgents killed 8 passengers along Maiduguri-Damboa highway, in Borno State, on Saturday. A security source, who witnessed the incident told reporters that it happened around 12 noon at Gidanka Kaji, a distance of 30km from Damboa town.
5. Three men, who were arrested after the Rivers State House of Assembly was burned down by unknown arsonists, have alleged that their lives have remained under threat after they were discharged and acquitted by a court. The discharged persons, Chime Ezebalike, Kenneth Kpasa, Prince Oladele Lukman, and MacPherson Olumini, who spoke in Port Harcourt, alleged that those against the suspended governor and his Chief of Staff, were the ones behind the threat.
6. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kano State Command, has detained 22 suspects in possession of various quantities of illicit substances during a series of coordinated raids across the state. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Kano.
7. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has confirmed the arrest of seven suspects involved in unlawful dealings in petroleum products. According to a post via its X handle the NSCDC said the operation was carried out by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad.
8. The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Sokoto State, Muhammad Goronyo, has launched an attack on the performance of the All Progressives Congress-led government in the state, accusing it of poor governance, mismanagement, and insensitivity to the plight of citizens.
9. Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has said that his party, the All Progressives Congress, is unperturbed about moves by opposition leaders to form a coalition that would win the 2027 presidential election. Speaking during a press conference in Lagos State yesterday, he said the ‘eyes’ of the APC are wide open and they would not allow any coalition to remove the power in their hands.
10. The Police Command in Ondo State has begun investigation into the allegation of extortion levelled against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Igbara-Oke in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state, Ganiyu Dauda. Residents of the community on Friday protested against alleged extortion by the DPO and operatives in the division.
