Published on April 20, 2025 at 04:33 PM

Nine out of eleven inmates escaped from the Juvenile Correctional Centre in Oko Erin, Ilorin, late Friday night.
The incident, which occurred around 10:00 on April 19, was reported by a staff member, Joseph Issa.

This was revealed by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he shared that security operatives responded swiftly to the alert.

One of the escapees, identified as 15-year-old Abdul Raman Misa, was re-arrested shortly after the jailbreak and has been returned to the centre. However, eight others remain at large as security agencies intensify efforts to apprehend them.

Makama further disclosed that an investigation has been launched to determine how the inmates managed to escape from the facility, which is designed to rehabilitate juveniles in conflict with the law.
