NPFL: Plateau United, Bendel Insurance win at home

Plateau United and Bendel Insurance secured home victories in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, on Saturday.

At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United came from behind to defeat northern rivals Kano Pillars 2-1. Jerry Alex put Kano Pillars ahead in the 31st minute, but the home side equalised through Pam Samuel in the 58th minute. Gafar Saka netted the winning goal for Plateau United 13 minutes from time.

With the victory, Plateau United moved up to 13th position, while Kano Pillars dropped to eighth.

In Benin City, Bendel Insurance edged past Sunshine Stars with a 1-0 win. Kayode Oke’s 20th-minute strike proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Bendel Insurance climbed to fifth position with 44 points from 30 games, while Sunshine Stars remain in 18th place with 33 points.
