NPFL: Rivers United cut Remo Stars’ lead, Abia Warriors, Akwa win away

Stephen Manyo scored deep into stoppage time as Rivers United defeated Ikorodu City 1-0 in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Finidi George's side cut Remo Stars' lead at the top of the table to five points following the hard-earned victory.

Ikorodu City remain in fifth position despite the defeat.

Abia Warriors moved to third following a 1-0 away win against oriental rivals Heartland at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

Adejoh Ojonugwa netted the winning goal nine minutes from time.

Nine-time champions Enyimba were held to a 1-1 draw by Bayelsa United in Aba.

The hosts went in front through Ekene Awazie in the eighth minute but Bayelsa United equalised one minute later courtesy of Ogba Ifeanyi's fine strike.

In Ilorin, Akwa United boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 win over Kwara United.

Osoba Kabir and Uche Sabastine scored both goals for the Promise Keepers.

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United thrashed El-kanemi Warriors 3-0.

Moses Effiong, Bello Lukman and Abdul Taofeek were all on target for the hosts in the game.
