Published on April 28, 2025 at 02:59 PM

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars for winning the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, title.

Remo Stars won their first-ever NPFL title following a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Ikenne on Sunday.

The Sky Blue Stars top the standings with 68 points from 35 points with three matches remaining before the end of the campaign.

Daniel Ogunmodede side's closest challenger, Rivers United, are second with 58 points from same number of matches.

Remo Stars made history as the first privately owned club to win the league title since Udoji United in 1996.

President Tinubu in a statement released by his special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the historic victory, four years after the team's promotion to the elite league, as a testament to the hard work, discipline and unyielding spirit of the players, the coaching crew and the management.

He also commended the vision and commitment of the club's owner and chairman, Mr. Kunle Soname.
