The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested five individuals suspected of vandalizing and stealing from public institutions across the state.

According to a statement released by the NSCDC spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, and signed on behalf of the State Commandant, Shafi’u Abdulmumini, four of the suspects—Abdulbasi Usman (19), Yahaya Isa (20), Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi (20), and Adamu Murtala (20)—were apprehended for breaking into and looting two government secondary schools – GSS Unguwar Rimi and GSS Unguwa Uku.

Recovered stolen items included roofing sheets, iron rods, buckets, 20 three-seater cushion chairs, mats, windows, ceiling fans, teaching materials, and vital documents. The NSCDC is continuing efforts to trace and recover more items, including those allegedly sold to a known buyer now under investigation.

In a separate operation, 17-year-old Alasan Inusa from Dambatta LGA was arrested for allegedly stealing electrical infrastructure components. Items recovered from him included six insulators, a 3-meter aluminum cable, nuts, and brass parts.

The command confirmed that investigations are complete and legal proceedings against the suspects will commence soon.
