The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin has declared that Oba River is the boundary between the ancient city of Ibadan and Iwo town.

The traditional ruler made this declaration on Friday, at an emergency meeting held at the Olubadan palace located at Oke Aremo Ibadan.

DAILY POST reports that the meeting was attended by Obas, Mogajis and Baales.

The meeting centred on the ongoing issues surrounding the conflict over the boundary dispute between Ibadanland and Iwo.

The Olubadan who spoke through the Ekerin Olubadan, His Royal Majesty, Oba Hamidu Ajibade Salaudeen, said the boundary between Ibadan in Oyo State and Iwo in Osun State had been Oba River from time immemorial.

He admonished the Obas, Mogajis and Baales in the affected areas to protect their territorial integrity.

He urged them to ensure the ownership of land belonging to Ibadan is not compromised.

Olakulehin while speaking further, maintained that trespassers should be prepared to face the music.

He enjoined traditional title holders in Ibadan – Iwo boundary areas to give maximum support to the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

He also urged them to support Oyo State Government so as to ensure that the land forcefully and fraudulently taken over is reclaimed.

“I seriously warn land expansionists, land grabbers and other trespassers to leave forcefully acquired Ibadan land without further delay in their own interests.

“The established fact that Ibadan people are lovers of peaceful co-existence and therefore accommodating should not be taken for granted or misinterpreted as cowardice”.
