Ogun SEMA disburses compensation to Ikangba rainstorm victims

Published on April 15, 2025 at 08:25 PM

Victims of the devastating Ikangba rainstorm have received compensation on Tuesday from the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA.

DAILY POST reports that in March 2025, residents of Ikangba, in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, were affected by the storm, which left families displaced and struggling to secure shelter and basic necessities. The storm damaged homes, schools, and destroyed valuable assets.

In the aftermath, the Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Lukman Adeleye, urged the state government to address the plight of the affected residents. Adeleye, a former Education Officer with the State’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, made an appeal on the floor of the Assembly, calling for immediate intervention and compensation from the SEMA for the victims.

Subsequently, the state government, on Tuesday, allocated funds for relief as SEMA officials distributed compensation to the affected families following an assessment of the damage and their needs.
