It’s happening! It’s happening! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! Not Spice World 2 finally getting greenlit Britney Spears will finally speak for herself. The #FreeBritney movement has been building up to this! Britney’s lawyer informed the judge in her conservatorship case with her father, Jamie Spears, that Britney herself would like to address the court herself because she is ready to finally speak herself. I think that Britney is a little too old to start her long-awaited speech by saying: “I’m not a girl, not yet a woman,” but my god would that have made a dramatic impact.
39-year-old Britney has been under a conservatorship since 2008 and Jamie Spears has been involved in some way or another since then. But recently, she’s been making moves to change shit up and has made it clear that eventually, she wants her father removed from her conservatorship completely. Jodi Montgomery is currently in charge of Britney The Person, and she seems okay with that. Jamie and Bessemer Trust are currently in charge of her money. Britney’s lawyer has also said that Britney will never return to her career as long as her dad is involved. Jamie has denied Britney and him have that bad a relationship although he admitted they haven’t spoken since last summer, but I guess we’ll find out once Britney speaks for her damn self!
Page Six says that at a court hearing yesterday, Brit’s lawyer, Samuel Ingham III, told Judge Brenda Penny that Britney wants to directly address the court about the “status of the conservatorship” and made a request to do so right away:
“The conservatee has requested that I seek from the court a status hearing at which she can address the court directly… My client asked that it be done on expedited basis.”
Samuel wanted to do it within 30 days, so Judge Penny tried to fit it in ASAP and now a court date is set for June 23rd. There’s also a separate hearing on July 14 about some estate accounting documents. And the judge also granted a motion to seal documents from public view about Jodi which were filed by Jodi herself.
TMZ adds that Britney hasn’t said she wants to shit-can the conservatorship, but she wants to talk to the judge about her dad and possibly tell the court that she wants him out completely:
Our sources say Britney hasn’t been specific about what she wants to say to the judge, but it’s more likely than not she wants Jamie out entirely.
Our sources say … Britney is all but at war with her dad, Jamie. She is angry at him and has virtually no interaction with him anymore. A lot of this stems from her days growing up when Jamie was not present in her life. Britney’s boyfriend, Sam Asghari, clearly shares her sentiment … he’s been open about his disdain for Jamie and what Sam calls his heavy-handed tactics.
As you know, Britney has said she will not perform again unless Jamie is out of the conservatorship entirely, but that doesn’t mean if he’s out she will then perform. Fact is … we know she hasn’t talked to anyone in her camp about a desire to go back on stage, and she even said as much in a recent social media post.
When Britney finally speaks in June, I hope that the lights in the courtroom dim and a speaker comes on blasting, “It’s Britney, bitch,” before the doors fly open at once and Britney struts inside and does a freedom remix of Gimme More called Gimme More (Freedom From My Dad). All I’m saying is she can really make an entrance if she wants to–she has the discography. I just hope more than anything that her exit is the real show-stopper and Britney walks out of court as happy as Nicole Kidman getting divorced from Tom Cruise.
