PAMPERS is launching jumbo-sized nappies for schoolchildren who are not toilet trained.

The babycare giant responded after a survey revealed one in four now start primary education unable to use a loo.

It has introduced Size 9 Baby Dry Nappy Pants — for those weighing around 3st, close to the average for a five-year-old.

Parents of children with additional needs and disabilities welcomed the move.

But Felicity Gillespie, director of early child development charity Kindred Squared, said: “Medical experts are clear that the time for children, with no additional medical needs, to be coming out of nappies is between 18 and 30 months.”;

A spokesman for size 9 Pampers stockist Morrisons said: “We were the first to introduce these earlier this year.

“They have been introduced to help children with disabilities or special needs and also a recognition that some older children still need nappies.”

Pampers was contacted for comment.
