Pep Guardiola gives huge update on Erling Haaland’s status for next game after missing out with injury

Published on October 30, 2022 at 01:23 AM

PEP GUARDIOLA has given a huge update on Erling Haaland̢۪s fitness.

That̢۪s after the striker missed Manchester City̢۪s 1-0 win at Leicester on Saturday.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has provided the latest news on Erling Haaland’s injury

Haaland, 22, gave City fans a scare when he was subbed off with a foot injury in Tuesday̢۪s 0-0 Champions League draw at Borussia Dortmund.

He was spotted hobbling into hospital the very next day.

And fears were confirmed when Haaland failed to make the match squad for today’s early kick-off.

There are now questions over when the free-scoring striker will return.

But Guardiola has provided a fresh update on Haaland̢۪s fitness.

The Spaniard admits there̢۪s no chance his star forward will face Sevilla on Wednesday, with City already booking their place in the Champions League knockout stages.

And there̢۪s just a slim chance Haaland returns in time for next weekend against Fulham.

Yet despite suffering ligament damage in his foot, the Norwegian should be fit in time for the Carabao Cup clash against Chelsea.

Guardiola said: “He has ligament damage. He feels better, we have one more week.

“He won’t play against Sevilla because we’ve already qualified and hopefully against Fulham he can help us.

“If not he might play against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.”

Fantasy Football fans will certainly be hoping for a swift return, with many keeping Haaland in their side this weekend.

One moaned: “Pep has messed up millions of fantasy league weekends.”

Another laughed: “That noise you hear is every single Fantasy Team player crying.”

One quipped: “Fantasy Twitter melt down on whether Haaland starts…”

Another added: “Guardiola is the enemy of fantasy football.”
