PlayStation fans to LOSE seven games in grim closure – but you can bag three new ones without paying a penny extra

PLAYSTATION fans are set for a major shake-up to their game libraries in April.

Sony is preparing to cull some games from player consoles – but there are a few extras on the way.

It's all linked to the PlayStation Plus membership scheme.

This is Sony's subscription that gets you access to online play, a library of games to enjoy, and a rotating selection of free titles to claim forever.

In April, Sony will add three new titles to the PS Plus Essentials list, and you'll have a month to the claim them.

Meanwhile, seven games are being removed from the rolling roster of titles available for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.

NEW PS PLUS GAMES IN APRIL

Sony has already revealed the line-up of monthly games that you can claim with PS Plus for April.

They'll all be playable from April 1.

First up is RoboCop: Rogue City, which is a PS5 title.

“Become the legendary part man, part machine, all cop hero and bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit,” Sony explains.

“With your powerful Auto-9 or one of a range of weapons available, eradicate criminals throughout this explosive first-person adventure.

“Your cyborg strength and cybernetic abilities can be upgraded as you progress, to make you an even more formidable law enforcement officer.”

Then there's third-person horror title The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which is for PS4 and PS5.

And yes, it's based on the 1974 film – so it's not for the kids.

“As a victim you must use your wits and stealth to stay out of the Family’s reach and find the tools you need to lead to your eventual freedom,” Sony said.

“Slaughter Family players must seek out, track down, and stop their guests from escaping.”

Thirdly, there's Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory.

This PS4 title is set in the iconic world of Digimon, with 320 of the creatures available to be discovered.

So to recap, you can get:

  • RoboCop: Rogue City (PS5)
  • The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (PS4, PS5)
  • Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory (PS4)

You'll be able to download the lot from April 1 right through to May 5.

GAMES GOING AWAY IN APRIL

First up, it's worth noting that the March lot of PlayStation Plus titles will soon expire.

So if you want them, you'll need to claim them quickly.

They were:

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Sonic Colours: Ultimate
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection

You've got until the end of today to claim them.

Then there are eight games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium, which are also stamped as ‘Last Chance To Play' titles.

Here's the list in alphabetical order:

  • Animal Well
  • Deliver Us Mars
  • Kena: Bridge of Spirits
  • Miasma Chronicles
  • Nour: Play With Your Food
  • Slay The Spire
  • Stray Blade
  • Tales of Kenzera: Zau

These March PS Plus titles are still available to download – but not for long

They're all due to vanish on April 15, so enjoy them while you can.

The good news is that Sony regularly adds fresh titles to PS Plus, so there's still plenty to look forward to.
